“I want an artistic explosion. Our present high-technology lifestyle demands a theatre experience that cannot be satisfied by video and movie screens. I want acting that is poetic and personal, intimate and colossal. I want to encourage the kind of humanity on the stage that demands attention and expresses who we are and suggests that life is bigger.”
Anne Bogart, “A Director Prepares”
The above is a quote from a book recommended by one of my theatre mentors, which grabbed my attention and refused to let go.
I’m currently devouring it, just in time to potentially use its various wrenches and drill bits as I shepherd a new stage production over the next few months.
Fairly certain more quotes are forthcoming.
