There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was heAnd then one day
EDEN AHBEZ
A magic day he passed my way
And while we spoke of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me
The greatest thing you’ll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return
One of my favorite people in one of my favorite places, doing one of my favorite things.
I’ve shot this location several times in my years visiting my father (who lives just down the road a piece), but this one stands out. I’m untrained and relatively new to the art of photography — never taken a class, and my “real camera” is a Lumix DC-ZS70 point and shoot — and was simply goofing around with my phone camera app, practicing composition. On the ride home, I was scrolling through the images — like you do — and amidst a dozen other snaps of this same walk up to the lake, I stumbled on this one, and was a bit taken aback. To this day, I’m still not sure how it got there.
Shot with a Google Pixel 3, black & white filter.
I absolutely adore this photo! Phenomenal!

That poem is the perfect accompaniment as well. Love it!

I love this black-and-white photo — and you are quite good at photography! I, too, am virtually self-taught. I’m not good yet, but having fun capturing places we love to visit. Sedona is a place we stayed a long time ago, and I fell in love with the scenery and people.
Thanks for following Oh, the Places We See. We hope to travel more soon — so tired of the quarantine but know how necessary it is.

Thank you so much for your comment and follow! I’m very much enjoying your photos and stories as well, and I can absolutely relate to your enthusiasm for travel and capturing the memories with as many tools as we can muster. Completely agree that we need to stay vigilant – starting this blog is a way for me to express my wanderlust, and I love doing it, but nothing beats doing the real thing.

We’re both on a journey, I suppose!
